Notes for MINNIE BELL ELSEA: Note #1 I am speculating on this person here. She is listed on the 1880 Adair County, Missouri census as a granddaughter to Andrew and Louisa Elsea. Now being that she was born in Missouri and her mother was born in Ohio and it was unknown where the father was born it is a fairly safe bet to assume that one of Andrews daughters is the parent of this girl. I can cast out all Andrew's daughters except for Louisa. All of his other daughters were married and had several children of their own, so I don't believe she was any of their daughters. So that leaves Louisa as the mother of Minnie because she died in 1879 and she would have been around 16 at the time of the birth.

He married NOLA FAYE ROSEBERY March 03, 1915, daughter of JASPER ROSEBERY and MARGARET COLLINS. She was born February 13, 1894, and died March 27, 1983.
Notes for ELDER CLYDE ORAL JOHNSON: This following story was taken from the Novinger, Missouri book The First Hundred Years. It was written by Clyde Johnson.
On April 15, 1892 at five o'clock p.m., there was a little boy born to Jess and Hattie Johnson. I am their son who was born about one mile north of Green Grove on Highway 149 in what is now known as the Harve Leonard house.(As of 1980) The first four years seems as if it must have been spent in growing. The first thing that I remember was an ocassion I shall never forget. Our family, as well as many other families, had met at the schoolhouse for a spelling bee. Mother and two other people were the last to stand and it seemed they had been standing a long time. I walked up to Mother and in a voice that could be heard all over the house said, "Ma, I want my dinner." She replied in a voice equally as loud, "Never again Sonny" and as usual, Mothermade her word good. I graduated from the eight grade in this same school when I was sixteen. Time seemed to go slowly in those days and it seemed I would never be twenty-one, but just the other day I was. I do remember the day when I did not feel that I would have to preach the Gospel. At five years of age, I remember lying on my father's arm at night and asking him about God and heaven and death and so many other things. After my father would fall asleep, I would lie there and cry myself to sleep. It doesn't seem that it was a sad cry but a very sweet and comforting experience. Just about a month before I was thirty years, it came to me in a very strong way that I would have to tell that sweet story. I felt so unworthy that I said I could not. This continued for ten years, but finally I had to give up; and now the regret of my life is that I did not preach those ten years. To you that know me, if you have ever received any comfort from my preaching, give God the credit. In the forty-eight years I have been preaching, not one time have I felt that I could do it alone and God was always guiding me. God has been so good to me and as I have seen His dear sheep sit and with tears of joy running down their cheeks, I knew they were "eating." Now I want to go back to the year of 1901 on a hot August day. Mother had sent me to Shibley's Point with some eggs to trade for groceries. About three hundred yards from the store there was a big maple tree and in the shade I met a woman and her daughter, who was seven. There were a lot of little girls in the neighborhood, but I had never seen one like this one. I vowed then and there, that this one would be my wife someday. We lived in different neighborhoods and I did not see her very often, but the thought stayed in my mind always. I never had a date with her, until after I was twenty-one years old. In nineteen hundred fifteen, I changed her name from Rosebery to Johnson, and we have had 64 happy years together.
