SWEETHEART'S GRAVE AFFORDS ROSE FOR SUICIDE'S SHROUD
Young woman who ends life by swallowing acid had been to Cemetery where dead admirer is buried.
A rose plucked from the grave of her sweetheart in Mount Olivet was pinned upon the waist of Sarah Elsie, 11949 Dearborn Street, when her parents found her dead last night. She had swallowed carbolic acid shortly after kissing her father and mother good-night.
Miss Elsie, who was 20 years old, had been at Mount Olivet during the afternoon where she visited the grave of her sweetheart, Edward King, aged 22, who died April 6.
King was employed in the shops of the Pullman Company. He was injured when friends in the shops put the nozzle of a compressed air cleaning machine to his body in a playful way.
It was stated that the young woman was despondent following her last visit to the grave which she kept covered with flowers.
